Creating living landscapes through regenerative agriculture.
In the landscapes where our cocoa, coffee and nuts grow, deforestation is a key challenge that’s often caused by poverty. To be most effective, our solutions need to understand each context, while promoting nature-friendly and sustainable land use practices that help farmers improve their incomes.
In 2024, our teams delivered sustainability support to over half a million farmers across ofi supply chains to help make their existing land more profitable and incentivize more environmentally-sounds practices. In turn, this can help our customers comply with deforestation-free policies and laws and ultimately deliver real change.
Actively working for our planet across a variety of initiatives.
Promoting conservation on and around farms: Working with farmers and communities to implement agroforestry systems, protect forests and maximize crop value on existing land.
Acting to end deforestation with expansion of polygon mapping (to help with clarity on an area) and end-to-end traceability. Using geo-spatial technology for risk assessment, and implementing deforestation action plans with local partners in high-risk areas.
Promoting a regenerative approach to farming: Working with farmers to understand the context specific solutions which benefit soil, water, biodiversity and climate.
Forming multi-stakeholder partnerships to generate change at scale in living landscapes.
Tracking natural capital costs in cocoa and coffee operations, from the farmers or farmer groups we work with in sustainability programs to our global processing operations.
We report on our progress regularly and we’re monitored and rated by third-party agencies. Comprehensive action and transparency help us build trust and strengthen relationships as we look toward a truly sustainable global food system.
Progress against our goals for empowering farming communities is reported in our Group 2024 Annual Report and dedicated product strategies: Cocoa Compass, Coffee LENS, Nut Trails and Dairy Tracks.
Discover the targets we’re using to create meaningful change when it comes to regenerating the living world worldwide. From regenerating landscapes through agricultural practices in our supply chain, to implementing forest-positive actions such as a deforestation-free supply chain and promoting tree-carbon stock, these clear targets reflect our ambition of a world where food is produced in balance with nature in living landscapes.
Discover the strategic goals, governance and key policies, risk assessments and actions that will lead to outcomes including better nutrition, resilient farmers and more.
“Wageningen University & Research is very pleased with its longstanding collaboration with ofi, in which we created a better understanding of the key social and environmental risks in various agricultural supply chains, globally. The purpose of our collaboration is to improve farmer livelihoods, empower communities, and ensure global environmental conservation."

Our sustainable sourcing solution, AtSource allows customers to track significant metrics related to the economic opportunities of specific farmer groups. These metrics can include:
Average yield of a given farmer group
Number of farmers trained in good agricultural practices and the average change in productivity change for farmers who have completed the training
Volumes of seeds, seedlings and fertilizer distributed to farmers
Loans provided to farmers and workers
The AtSource dashboard allows you to track how metrics change over time, helping you understand the impact of our programs on farmers' economic opportunities and livelihoods.
We recognize the value of protecting nature. Not only because it’s the right thing to do but also because it’s vital for the future of our business. In 2019, we were one of the first to start measuring and reporting the natural capital costs of our cocoa operations from agriculture through to processing. By assigning a monetary value to Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and Land Use Change, we can more persuasively demonstrate the connection between financial and non-financial capital and show our stakeholders the financial rewards of investing in nature.
“The question asked of us was whether there was a way of bringing what we were doing to life by establishing a numerical link between our actions on the ground and their impact. The impacts shown in dollars and cents give finance and business teams the needed numerical link financial connection. This will help in both improving the understanding of natural capital and in taking necessary steps towards increasing long-term value for the company.”
